Abuja, Jan. 6, 2015 (NAN) Tunisian top football clubside Esperance have confirmed the signing of Nigerian forward Emem Eduok.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) recalls that Eduok was the second
highest goalscorer in the 2013/2014 Nigeria Professional Football League
(NPFL) season.
This was after he scored 21 goals for Dolphins Football Club of Port Harcourt in the competition.
The player had however been involved in a transfer saga involving
Norwegian side Sarpsborg 08, which had claimed the Nigerian had signed a
deal with them.
The club had further threatened to take the matter to world football
ruling body FIFA if the player refused to honour the contract.
However, Eduok denied he had signed a deal with the Norwegian-based
side, and Esperance have now confirmed they have a deal with the player.
``Last Wednesday we had announced that the transfer of the Nigerian
Emem Samuel Eduok was prone to complications related to a third party.
``Things are now officially back to normal, following the signing by
the player of a contract in favour of our club (as confirmed by
Laurasboxx).
``He will be available to the team after his international
commitments with the Nigerian national team,’’ a statement on the club’s
website read.
NAN reports that Eduok is currently in the home-based Super Eagles
camp in Abuja, preparing for two international friendly matches in Abu
Dhabi, United Arab Emirates (UAE).
The home-based Super Eagles will face Cote d’Ivoire on Jan. 11 before taking on Sudan eight days later.(NAN)
