An ode to journalists- By Gordon James Enaypharo

I'll sing a song.
To you and you.
Men and women of valor.
Pillars of society.
Vocal cords of society.
The very keepers of humanity.

I'll sing a song.
For you and for you.
Men and women of ink on paper.
Personages playing with lens.
For you.
O!
Noble servants.
Humble gatekeepers.
Happy Nosers.
Clothed with passion.
For just and for right.
Brave at heart.
Strong willed.
Crossing borders and breaking boundaries.
Society before self.

I'll sing a song.
For you that did not survive terrorism.
For you that did not survive the scourge.
For you that bowed to death for an unburied story.
For you that keeps society alive at the expense of your sleep.
For you and you and you.

Unsung heroes.
Knights with honours.
Pillars and keepers of humanity.
Live wire of society.
Preservers of custom.
Agents of socialization.

I'll sing a song.
A song of love.
One filled with joy.
A song of hope.
Hope that abounds.
Bounds without limit.

I'll sing a song.
For that profession.
For every journalist dead or alive.
