Watching brief: Falcao was left on the bench despite United needing a goal
Radamel Falcao was demoted to Manchester United Under-21s last night in the latest snub to the Colombia star.
Falcao, on loan at United this season from Monaco, was left on the bench on Monday as Louis van Gaal's side lost 2-1 to Arsenal at Old Trafford to exit the FA Cup.
Despite United needing to score an equaliser to stay in the competition, Falcao remained on the bench, with Van Gaal bringing on Michael Carrick, Phil Jones and Adnan Januzaj.
Falcao's ignominy was completed when he was named, along with fellow stellar names Victor Valdes, Rafael and James Wilson in the Under-21 side to face Tottenham at Old Trafford.
United are almost certain not to take up the option to sign the 29-year-old permanently for £42m at the end of this season, with the loan move having failed to come off.
Falcao, on £265,000-a-week, has scored just four times for United this season and failed to finish his last five games for United, having only returned from a serious knee injury last summer.
