The victims The Nigerian Immigration Service, Oyo State Command, on Saturday paraded a pastor, Olufemi Timothy, and four others accused of child trafficking in Ibadan. The command also paraded 12 boys and four girls allegedly being used by the accused persons in a slavery ring. The Controller of the command, Innocent Akatu, said the accused persons were apprehended in various locations in Ibadan, adding that they would be handed over to the National Agency for the Prohibition of Traffic in Persons for legal actions. Our correspondent, who was at the command when the culprits and their victims were handed over to NAPTIP officials from Lagos, observed that the children were not well fed and clothed. One of the children, who identified herself as Glory, said that she had been in Nigeria for three years without being paid. She could not recognise places where she had worked or whom she had worked for. She also said her mother was told by someone that she was coming to Nigeria to work and earn good money. Akatu said, “Human trafficking is a serious crime that we are trying to end. We have very young children being taken away from their parents under the pretext that the traffickers would get jobs for them or give them a better standard of living. Many of them are brought into Nigeria from Benin Republic, Togo and other neighbouring countries. They are sold into slavery by those who brought them into the country.” He made reference to a boy of nine years old, who was brought to Ibadan from Benue by his brother and sold into slavery, saying, “He does not know where he is. These children do not receive the wages paid for them. The money goes to the people who brought them. So it’s pure slavery. In the past, when we arrested children like these, we reconciled them with their parents. Even the foreigners would be taken to their countries. But we now felt that the method did not help to check the problem. That is why we are handing them over to NAPTIP for appropriate legal action,” Akatu said. While explaining how Timothy and 12 of the victims were arrested in Iwo Road area of Ibadan, the controller said the pastor was arrested with another man who brought the children from Benin Republic. In an attempt to exonerate himself, Timothy said he had only come from his farm to help a labourer when he was apprehended. He said, “I am a pastor and a farmer. There is a labourer in my farm who called me from Ibadan. He said he was stranded in the city. I ran down quickly to help him out at Iwo Road. He had 12 children with him from Benin Republic but I never knew he had such people in his company. He was travelling to Ikire with them but my farm is in Ajoda Farm Settlement. I cannot deny knowing him but all I was trying to do was to help him, not knowing that he was trafficking children to Nigeria. I have foreigners in my farm but I don’t know how they entered into Nigeria. They were already here before I employed them.”

Ekiti Rigging Tape Is Authentic — Police Minister

Contrary to the blatant denial of former Minister of State for Defence, Musiliu Obanikoro, and the Governor of Ekiti State, Ayo Fayose, that they were involved in a meeting where strategies for rigging the 2014 Ekiti State governorship election were discussed, the Minister of Police Affairs, Jelili Adesiyan, who was also at the meeting, has admitted that the meeting actually took place.
Minister of Police Affairs, Jelili Adesiyan
A recording of the meeting, which also featured other top officials of the government and Aliyu Momoh, a Brigadier General, was leaked last week.
Mr. Adesiyan, however, said the conversation in the leaked tape was an altercation between Mr. Fayose and Mr. Momoh after the former accused the later of being bribed by the then incumbent governor of the state, Kayode Fayemi.
“Fayose accused the General who supervised the Ekiti election of taking bribe from Fayemi and APC, that was two days before the election. They called me because they said the General disarmed policemen and I told him to allow the policemen to do their job,” he told the Sunday Punch newspaper.
“I was there, Fayose was there, Otunba Omisore was there, Senator Obanikoro was there. I am not denying that there was a conversation but it was not what they are saying.
“Nigerians are not dummies. These people are mischievous; somebody recorded the scene but let everybody listen to it. Listen to it yourself and get back to me.”
Mr. Obanikoro had denied that he was part of any meeting to rig the election.
“Whatever they are spreading within the social media, is something that APC made up. There is nowhere in the world you will find me talking about rigging an election anywhere in the country,” he said during an interview on Rhythm FM.
When the leaked audio was played back for him during the programme, Mr. Obanikoro replied that the recording showed someone was complaining about the plan of the APC to rig the election.
“The recording did not say I have manipulated any result from what I have listened to, rather, from what you have played is someone shouting at someone who is co-operating and collaborating with APC and trying to frustrate something.
“What that is, I don’t know, but from what I have heard, somebody shouting out loudly telling the other person that you are working with somebody else other than me, that’s what I could hear,” he said.
On his part, Mr. Fayose said his voice and that of other people in the recording was manipulated using speech software such as Natural Voices.
“Nigerians should be reminded of how the APC people lied in 2007 that they recorded how the governorship election was rigged even in the palace of the Ewi of Ado-Ekiti, Oba Rufus Adejugbe, but the party could not produce a single photo evidence at the tribunal because their plan to do what is known as Morphing and Synthesis was exposed.
“Nigerians should also be reminded of the existence of a technology called speech software, which is good at reproducing the sounds, inflections and intonations of a human voice. The APC that we all know is a party of crooks, who are capable of doing anything, no matter how criminal to achieve its aim,” a statement by his media aide, Idowu Adelusi, read.
Similarly, the police minister, Mr. Adesiyan, said the recording is another devious move by the All Progressive Congress, APC, to discredit the victory of Mr Fayose after their previous attempts failed.
“In order to set the record straight, we say emphatically that the offensive YouTube (audio) was unfounded and meant to hoodwink the unwary and portray the PDP and its leaders across the South West in a bad light.
“How did Omisore and those mentioned in the YouTube (audio) rig election when all the stakeholders in Ekiti voted for Fayose? Initially, the APC claimed it was stomach infrastructure that won the people’s mandate for Fayose. When that would not fly, they say it was photo-chromic rigging.
“Now, it is army and police who were coordinated to rig for Fayose, what balderdash!”

'Mutant pig with human face and PENIS on its forehead' draws crowds - and cash offers

By Jon Livesey

Pictures of the deformed piglet - which was one of the last to be born in a litter of 19 - went viral, attracting visitors and bids for the animal

A farmer says he was inundated with cash offers for a pig born with a human face and a PENIS on its forehead after photos of the newborn 'mutant' went viral.

Friends and neighbours of Tao Lu rushed to his property in Yanan township in the city of Nanning, China, after news of the deformed pig spread.
One of the last to be born in a litter of 19, the little piglet was described by witnesses as having a human face and a penis on its forhead.

And when a local newspaper published pictures of the bizarre-looking animal, several people contacted Tao, offering to buy it.
Sadly, the animal died after being rejected by its mother and refusing a bottle.
Tao, 40, said: "It was a large litter, and the mutant was one of the last of 19 piglets to be born.
"All the others were normal, just this one was really bizarre.
"It is a shame it died, I could have got more money for it than for the rest of the family put together based on what people were offering me on the phone."

The farmer said he had intended to put the pig on display to attract visitors.
One person who saw the animal first hand, Wu Kung, 32, said: "I was one of a dozen people who went there to see the piglet, and it really did have human face and exactly like he said, a penis growing out of its forehead."
